The Tattered Suitcase is operated by Michael Mathews with the assistance of some wonderful dealers and, of course, is always guided by our resident spirit, April Joy.

Michael also owns the Antique Mall of Beaumont, Appraisals of Southeast Texas, and Antique Webs Overnight. He is also an active team member of Beaumont & Southeast Texas' most popular Estate Sales Service, Estate Sales by Vivian. He is a Certified Personal Property Appraiser and a member of the Certified Appraisers Guild of America. In addition, he is the President of the Southeast Texas Antique Dealers Association.

The overriding spirit behind all that occurs at the Tattered Suitcase is from April Joy. Her presence only begins with the haunting look in her eyes as seen in the picture hanging just in front of the front door of the Tattered side. Her spirit fills every nook and corner; past and present. As time passes, more of her story will be revealed. Little at a time.
